Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

- Act as a first responder and assist with de-escalation when students are in crisis; provide redirection using school-wide PBIS Matrix
- Monitor building climate and culture throughout the day
- Behavior Support for students removed from class earning major referrals
- Process students to gain a successful reentry into the classroom
- Coach students in positive behavior choices, develop strategies, and monitor success
- Document office referrals in Infinite Campus and in building-wide data collection systems
- Assist SAM in parent communications and follow up for student behaviors
- Work with students and staff to monitor behavior plans and interventions
- Perform student supervisory duties including before and/or after school, cafeteria and indoor/outdoor recess
- Demonstrate ability to take initiative and follow through
- Meet regularly with counselor, SAM, and principal
- Work collaboratively with staff supporting students in classrooms as needed
- Assist with daily activities and routines of students
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to assist in managing behavior throughout the school routine including transition times and recess
- Engage in on-going staff development
- Model flexibility in duties as the needs of students change
- Model enthusiasm and patience
- Other duties as assigned by building administrator
- Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
- Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
- Skilled, understands and utilizes MTSS or willingness to be trained/knowledgeable
- Skilled, understands and utilizes PBIS or willingness to be trained/knowledgeable
- CPI certified or willingness to gain CPI certification
Physical Requirements of Position: - Hands on position; able to work with children while sitting on the carpet and/or in small work areas
- Ability to withstand weather for outside activities
- Must be able to lift, pull and push 50 lbs.
