Job Description:
Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking an Accounting Manager for our Lakeville, Minnesota Branch.
Job Summary:
Maintain a systematic set of accounting records of business transactions as well as provide general supervision in the Accounts Payable department. This is a hybrid position.
Essential Job Functions:
Oversee the accounts payable function, including: assist accounts payable personnel in resolving any problems or disputes; ensure payables are processed for payment in a timely manner, utilizing early pay discounts to the greatest extent possible; monitor GL coding of expenses.
Process various journal entries required to complete the month end close, including journal entries related to prepaid expenses, vendor receivables, inventory, fixed assets and depreciation, accrued compensation, and group insurance allocation.
Perform a variety of daily or weekly accounting duties as directed, including: monitor daily cash activity and process adjustments as need; review and approve expense reports for corporate employees.
Perform monthly account reconciliations for numerous balance sheet accounts.
Prepare and file all annual Forms 1099 with the IRS and with state taxing authorities as required. Ensure Form W-9 is collected from new vendors and revised Form W-9's are collected as needed from existing vendors
Assist with the annual audit process, including preparation of data requested prior to the audit and processing data requests during the audit.
Enter fixed asset additions and disposals into the fixed asset depreciation system
Serve as the main contact with the insurance agency on routine property and insurance matters, including process requests for certificates of insurance; file and monitor any claims; notify the insurance agency of any purchases or sales of corporate vehicles; provide proof of insurance to branches.
Maintain records of corporate vehicles: maintain titles; coordinate purchases and disposals of vehicles; prepare the annual calculation of personal use to be included on employees' W-2s.
Process quarterly payments of corporate and composite income taxes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for the direction and supervision of Accounts Payable employees.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:
Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required
CPA certification preferred
Combined five to seven years experience in public accounting and/or industry, working with privately-held companies in audit and accounting
Federal and multi-state corporate tax experience is highly desirable
A minimum of 3 years experience managing accounting staff
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, employment policies, operating instructions, and procedural manuals
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask
Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and problem solve
Strong attention to detail
Thorough knowledge of general accounting including skills knowledge plus the application of general accounting theory
Advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables
Knowledgeable in using Microsoft Outlook and Word
Ability to quickly become an expert in using the AS400 ERP system
Maintain confidentiality related to all financial matters and other sensitive information
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to effectively work with others throughout the organization
Must be flexible, open minded, self motivated and able to work independently

Equipment Used:
Regularly uses typical office equipment including computer keyboard and terminal, telephone, fax, and copier, and program documents and computer reports.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed Monday through Friday in an office environment. May require overtime for business purposes. This is a hybrid position (3 days in office, 2 days remote).
