POSITION: Electrical Systems Technology Full Time Instructor

LOCATION: Clarkesville Campus

Description:  Under general supervision, provide instruction to students in the Electrical Systems Technology Diploma and Certificate programs at the Clarkesville Campus.

Applicant must be able to demonstrate appropriate teaching techniques; use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other record-keeping required; effective use of oral and written communication skills; and knowledge of current in-field procedures. The instructor will be responsible for the following content: Including but not limited to Alternating and Direct Current fundamentals, commercial and residential wiring and electrical controls.   Follows approved course syllabus and program standards. Maintains program requirements, attend/complete all professional development training, meet with students and college personnel to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues. Evaluates student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains accurate inventory of all assigned properties. Position may involve teaching traditional day and/or evening classes or online classes.

Applicants must demonstrate industry knowledge and may be subject to testing or performance assessments.

Major Duties:

·         Adhere to course standards and guides as developed by the Technical College System of Georgia and North Georgia Technical College

·         Instruct students in Electrical Fundamentals essential to the residential, commercial and industrial industries

·         Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives

·         Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses

·         Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives

·         Maintains program accreditation requirements, as appropriate

·         Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports

·         Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area

·         Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Diploma in Electrical Systems Technology or related field; current unrestricted licensed electrical construction for State of Georgia OR Industry Certification in the discipline AND related work experience.

Physical Demands:

Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time.  The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 50LBS.  The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the laboratory environment.  The ability to distinguish colors is required for purposes of electrical wiring.
