The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Are you interested in starting or advancing your career with New York State? New York City Children's Center is recruiting for a Psychiatrist 2 Children & Youth. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
As a Psychiatrist 2 Children & Youth at New York City Children's Center, you will provide psychiatric care and treatment services, supervise care activities, and oversee the administration of treatments.
Duties will include:
• Performing psychiatric screenings, evaluations, and examinations. Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and procedures, diagnosing, and treating various psychiatric conditions.
• Administering psychiatric treatments, medications, and therapies; Conducting follow-up exams and modifying treatments as needed.
• Explain results, diagnoses, and treatments with individuals, families, and caregivers.
• Collaborate on discharge planning for continuity of care.
• Consult and advise with other licensed physicians and healthcare providers on diagnoses and treatment plans, and approves treatment recommendations.
• Providing clinical supervision to Psychiatrists, physicians, and/or other medical providers.
• Managing and supervising psychiatric care and treatments for an assigned facility, unit, or program.
• Performing supervisory duties, developing, implementing, and revising clinical policies and procedures.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and have completed a certification in child and adolescent psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

There are two positions. These positions are eligible for a downstate adjustment of $3,400.

If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
3. Continued employment as a Psychiatrist 2 (C&Y) is dependent upon current licensure to practice medicine and in the case of Psychiatrist 2 (C&Y), current certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Loss of licensure and certification may result in removal from this position.
