Typical duties can include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Auditing various types of tax returns to determine tax liability of individual taxpayers, businesses, or corporations.
- Interpreting and applying pertinent parts of the Internal Revenue Code and related regulations and procedures.
- Making determinations on liability for Federal taxes.
- Investigating alleged criminal violations of Federal tax statutes and making recommendations for criminal prosecution and assertion of civil penalties.
- Experience using business practices, basic accounting principles, and Federal tax laws and regulations to audit tax records, analyze systems and bookkeeping, and use fact-finding techniques.

.Some jobs may have the potential for noncompetitive promotion depending on how the position is structured. For jobs with promotion potential, promotions may occur after you have:
- met time-in-grade requirements;
- performed at an acceptable level of competence; and
- demonstrated your ability to perform work at the next higher grade level.
- Tour of Duty: Shifts vary by location. We will try to offer the shift of your preference, but you may be offered an alternate shift upon selection. The actual Tour of Duty will be defined at job offer.
Day Shift - Monday-Friday Start and stop times between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Swing Shift - Monday-Friday Start and stop times between 2:00 p.m. and 1:30 a.m.
- This is aFull Time Permanent appointment.
- Travel requirements will vary depending on the position being filled.
