Job Description: |
Position Summary This position performs direct patient care using radiology equipment, including but not limited to C-arm. Responsible for setting up and capturing images as directed by a surgeon/physician during a procedure or surgery.
Radiology Technologist Essential Functions • As directed by a surgeon/physician to set up and operate radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patient during surgery or procedure. • Positions and ensures safety of patient and adjusts equipment to obtain the best quality x-ray/image of the specific body area requested by the physician. • Maintains quality and quality control checks to ensure x-ray unit meets standards required by local, state and federal agencies including licensure and accreditation agencies. • Collaborates with Materials Manager in maintaining adequate supplies necessary for radiology needs of the center including but not limited to disposables, radiation exposure protection equipment, dosimetry badges etc.. • Confirms that all persons in the room are properly shielded before activating x-ray. • Follows principles of aseptic technique during the procedure. • Remains available during the procedure to provide timely response to surgeon or patient needs. • Follows State and Federal guidelines and manufacturer’s specifications when performing x-ray procedures. • Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide availability and safety. • Ensures proper documentation of radiation exposure in the patient’s medical record. • Assists in surgery suite maintenance including case preparation, turn-over, and terminal cleaning. • Acts as a resource person to other members of the staff.
Other Essential Functions • Must be willing and able to adjust schedule depending upon needs of the company. • Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time • Participates in department and company meetings, as requested • Performs other duties as assigned
