About the Job



About the Position:

This position will help the teachers of CSci undergraduate classes several ways, such as training, coordinating, leading, and evaluating undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants, by developing or helping develop course activities (assignments, labs, quizzes, etc.), and by assisting with DRC accommodation. Here are some of the likely specific duties:
Training, coordinating, leading, and evaluating undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants. (40%)
These efforts include activities such as
Help recruit new undergraduate TAs
Train new TAs on how courses are operated
Lead grading sessions
Help lead course staff meetings
Assist with communication with teaching assistants
Developing assignments, projects, and tests (20%)
Assist in the development of exams, quizzes, labs, and homework
Review exams, quizzes, labs, and homework for clarity and difficulty level
Leading recitations, labs, or discussion sections (10%)
In person instruction in recitations, labs, or discussions
Fill in for the instructor during lecture occasionally, if needed
Coordinating efforts around DRC accommodations (5%)
Assist the instructor in providing DRC accommodation such as exam proctoring, extended homework deadline management, etc.
Communicate with students and the DRC as needed.
Help the instructor handle academic conduct issues (5%)
Help the instructor develop or maintain material to educate students about academic conduct.
Assist the instructor in handling academic misconduct cases.
Other course related administrative duties as needed. (20%)
Track student progress, and contact and reach out to struggling students
Handle grades and gradebooks
Hold office hours, as needed
Handle student email about administrative issues
Help develop and manage course materials including the class website
Coordinate computer lab needs with the department and with the CSE-IT staff.
Assist with the companion course that provides students with extra problem solving practice.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:
BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years; applies knowledge and a skill to a recurring task or activity with emphasis typically on precision and timeliness of execution.
Preferred:
Project development and project management skills.
