The Law Clerk / Attorney will support on-going criminal and civil health care fraud prosecutions. An Attorney performs, but is not limited to the following duties:
Performs complex legal research
Prepares draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law dealing with a variety of federal criminal and civil issues, with a particular focus on civil and criminal health care fraud prosecutions of fraud committed by health care providers against COVID-19 relief programs, as well as civil opioid matters pursed under the False Claims Act and Controlled Substances Act
Assist ASUAS in preparing for court hearings, meetings with opposing counsel, depositions, settlement conferences, client meetings, and other events that occur in the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Assist AUSAs in litigating cases in federal district and appellate courts covering a broad spectrum of issues including civil and criminal enforcement of federal laws and defense of federal agency actions under a variety of tort, environmental, constitutional and administrative laws.
Under the supervision of AUSAs, participate in court hearings, moot courts, and other events that support the litigation work of the U.S. Attorney's Office.

An Attorney must meet the following qualifications:
Minimum education is a JD degree. Bar admission is not required
Demonstrated ability to utilize law library resources and working knowledge of research tools.
Demonstrated excellent legal writing skills, requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in common software applications
Up to 10 hours of overtime may be required per week.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation.

Target salary range: $67,725 - $72,994. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
