DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructor for classes that train and certify 9-1-1 telecommunicators/dispatchers in Massachusetts communities on 9-1-1 call handling equipment, a basic telecommunicator certification, and all other certification courses that are offered by the State 911 Department that provide 9-1-1 centers with the ability to meet the Massachusetts minimum training requirements and to have other training opportunities. The person in this role will be responsible for processing all paperwork associated with Department courses. This person will be responsible for monitoring and tracking training material and maintaining inventory of materials at each training facility. The person in this role will be responsible for the upkeep of each Department training facility.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE
Knowledge of the basic theories and principles of learning and motivation as applied to training.
Knowledge of training methods and techniques such as on the job training, lectures, workshop, conference, essay study, role playing, programmed instruction, e-learning/distance learning, demonstration, simulation and games.
Knowledge of program evaluation method.
Knowledge of principles and practices of curriculum development.
Knowledge of the principles and correct usage of the English language including grammar, spelling, sentence structure, word meaning and punctuation.
Knowledge in methods used to prepare charts, graphs and tables.
Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines governing State 911 Department programs.
Ability to give oral and or written instructions in a precise, understandable manner.
Ability to plan training or instruction using PowerPoint.
Ability to work in a group situation.
Ability to work in a team setting.
Ability to handle discretion in handling confidential information.
Ability to exercise sound judgment.
Ability to determine the proper format and procedures for assembling items of information.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft 365/Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams Meeting platform), and other instructional software as necessary.
Experience with technology, and instruction of technology through various teaching platforms.
Responsible for providing 9-1-1 equipment training, basic telecommunicator training and instruction of other training programs developed or offered by the State 911 Department. Class sizes vary and may have up to 40 students in attendance. Training takes place in various areas of the Commonwealth at Department training facilities or on-site at 9-1-1 call centers and are conducted during day and evening hours. Ability to travel regularly within Massachusetts is necessary.
