Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO) to work at a facility in Williamsburg, VA. These are registry positions with our company.



Pay Rate: $237 / hour

*1099 Independent Contractor

Assignment:




  • Available to start immediately (pending credentialing)

  • Initial Appointment for 3-month assignment, with option to extend 3 -6-month assignment, if the position remains unfilled

  • Full-time, 40 hours a week with assigned office hours of Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm with 1 hour lunch break; no alternative schedules accepted

  • NOT approved for overtime

  • No weekends, no holidays, no on-call duty

  • Ability to provide cross coverage, to include forensic populations, as required

  • Once a month, participation in Lunch Coverage Call (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)



Qualifications:




  • 3+ more years as a Physician/Practitioner, autonomous preferred

  • Strong experience working with patients having Serious Mental Illness (SMI)

  • Psychiatric Crisis Management and Forensic experience, a plus

  • Experience working with adult admissions or geriatric admissions and acute and chronic health management of adult and geriatric populations.

  • Comfortable working on admissions work up and potential rapid turnover

  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary treatment team

  • BLS Healthcare Provider certification is required



Position Details:




  • Facility Hospitalizations: Acute, Adult, Inpatient wards (male & female)

  • Facility Demographics: Forensic, NGRI, Civil, Jail Transfer, and Geriatric populations

  • Facility Stay: Short and Long-term length of stay

  • o Caseload varies by ward and assignment (40-45)

  • Psychiatry coverage is provided

  • Full complement of interdisciplinary team members



Responsibilities include but are not limited to:




  • Responsible for patient care that includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population.

  • Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner.

  • Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mental status examination) and entering admission orders.

  • Orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures.

  • Monitors patients' progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed.

  • Consults with authorized representatives/legal guardians on patient medical status.

  • Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioner if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment.

  • Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed.

  • Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices. Assesses and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions.

  • Ensures timely and quality documentation (admissions, follow-up and annual, etc.) in patient records in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.
