Blood Research Institute (VBRI) is the largest blood-focused research
institute in the United States. With over 30 basic, translational, and
clinical researchers, the institute is dedicated to advancing scientific
knowledge and developing innovative therapies related to blood and blood

topics, including transfusion medicine, cellular therapy,
thrombosis/hemostasis, immunology, and hematologic malignancies. As a

summer of 2024, construction of a new research building will start,

institutes in the world. Position Summary A postdoctoral position is
available at NIH-funded lab to study the role of HEMOLYSIS in promoting
organ damage in SICKLE CELL DISEASE. The lab is interested in studying
the role of hemolysis induced heme-iron -hemoglobin accumulation and
associated liver-kidney and splenic injury in Sickle Cell Disease.
Previous experience in mice surgery or intravital microscopy,
microfluidic platforms, flow cytometry, western blot analysis and a
strong background in hemoglobin-heme-iron clearance, liver biology, and
sterile inflammation, receptor-ligand interaction and endocytosis is
