About the Job



Position Overview
This position is located in the Northern Lights Collaborative for Computing Education in the College of Education and Human Development. The position provides critical support for professional development facilitators and the professional development offerings in the Northern Lights Collaborative. As a representative of the Northern Lights Collaborative, this position is the first contact for professional development facilitators (part-time staff) and external stakeholders such as teachers in professional development offerings. This position reports to the Director.

This position is Part Time, Temporary remote in the Northern Lights Collaborative for Computing Education. The working hours are scheduled as needed in consultation with the Director.

Per University of Minnesota (UMN) policy, work may be done remotely when appropriate and approved by your manager. All UMN employees are expected to follow applicable public health and safety procedures.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision (50%)
Supervise personnel leading professional development programs.
Provide work direction to personnel leading professional development programs.
Provide work direction to professional development facilitators, coaches, and related personnel.
Professional Development Operations (40%)
Manage and maintain equity-focused CS education professional development (PD) programs.
Collaborate with partners and key stakeholders to implement professional learning programs.
Communicate with educators who are registering for or enrolled in PD programs.
Collaborate with curriculum developers and other team members to support the development, marketing, and implementation of successful PD programs.
Outreach / Development (10%)
Support development of external partnerships and projects.
Provide content for web and social media communication channels.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in education or related field
3+ years of experience in computer science education
Experience with leading professional development for K12 computer science teachers
Commitment to and success in addressing issues of equity in CS education
Demonstrated professional communication and technical writing skills
Ability to take leadership roles on projects, demonstrate initiative, and be an adept problem solver
Ability and willingness to shift work schedule to support or manage professional learning in evenings and weekends to accommodate teacher participants
Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year of experience in supporting adult learners (professional development, coaching, etc.)
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with Advanced Placement CS education programming languages and technologies
Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities
