Cyber Network Engineer / ISSM with the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center at Kirtland AFB New Mexico

What you will do...

  • In general, the Network Engineer/ISSM will provide direct technical expertise support to the Air Force Nuclear Weapon Center (AFNWC) NDW organization for the Weapon Storage and Security System (WS3), Vault Management Program (VMP), and Disablement Management System (DMS) Mod programs
  • Be responsible for overseeing all network engineering related aspects of the contract and have demonstrated expertise in overall network engineering concepts and processes
  • Perform engineering analysis on current network systems and assist with the planning of new systems and/or upgrades
  • Support design and maintenance of network systems
  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
  • Provide detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the solution to meet mission needs, including present and future capability requirements
  • Conduct integration and testing of network design
  • Maintain system configuration control over software and hardware versions
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges and gateways
  • Manage the requirements, design, and implementation for networks and end-to-end systems to support mission operations, existing ground systems and upgrades, technology refresh, and reliability and maintainability; and troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network issues.
  • Monitor and analyze overall network performance for areas of improvement/optimization; define, document, and put into effect system policies; perform security risk management, maintain network system security and network protection
  • Generate RMF documentation as part of accreditation efforts
  • Provide interface control documents, emulator/simulator baseline control, test plans, network diagrams, integration/deployment work instructions, and provide recommendations for production and test system hardware
  • Manage the network system engineering program documentation

Skills you will need...

  • CompTIA Security+ certification that meet DoD 8570.01-M with 10+ years of experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field (computer science, engineering, network specialization, or similar) and 8+ years of experience
  • Experience in designing, building, integrating, testing, and maintaining network and computing infrastructure; analyzing alternatives; validating system performance; and establishing cyber security certifications and/or authority to operate (ATO) for the fielding of new/modified DoD weapons systems.
  • Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process
  • Knowledge of computer forensics tools and investigative methodologies;
  • Experience supporting various computer hardware and multiple operating systems in both a stand-alone and in LAN/WAN configurations
  • Knowledge of the nuclear enterprise mission, programs, procedures and environment is a plus
  • Working knowledge of DoD Acquisition process and procedures is a plus
  • Proficiency in the use of MS office applications, i.e., MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel
  • Excellent verbal communication, written and quantitative analytical skills, including technical writing skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience leading teams and collaborating with key partners
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time, some overseas, must have a current passport
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance and handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations
  • US citizenship is required
