About This Role:
We are searching for a Senior Controls Engineer to join their Equipment Engineering team in Maple Grove, MN. You will be part of a team of talented engineers and automation specialists who create and support automated solutions for our manufacturing and new product development customers.You will assist in developing, implementing, and supporting automated equipment and software systems for medical device manufacturing. This role has a hands-on approach in equipment development, including automation and control design, electro-mechanical systems, industrial and collaborative robots, and computer hardware and software support. This enables us to support and develop a wide range of legacy and new technology solutions across the full spectrum of manufacturing capabilities.
Your Responsibilities Include:
Provides support to new and sustaining initiatives in the areas of automation and equipment design originating from the Process Development team.
Actively document application success stories and exciting proof-of-concept demos through technical notes, videos, and other material to be used to promote Robotic Development Center
Manage and develop robotic standards to keep up with current technologies and safety standards.
Maintain a library of demo and proof-of-concept projects such that they can quickly be re-commissioned or shown to customers.
Maintain demo equipment in working order for customer visits.
Develop relationships and cultivate future work opportunities with clients and facilities as work is performed.
Develop & lead training programs and classes for customers.
Completes FDA/QSR software requirements by assisting in creating specifications and qualifications.
Ensures technical outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices and that customer and company technical, system, performance, and quality requirements are met.
Provides training as required to ensure that the equipment can be operated effectively. Applies a wide range of engineering design and/or analytical theories, principles, techniques, and practices to a complex portion of a technical project.
Controls project planning (i.e., project scheduling/phasing, subcontract planning, resource planning, budget planning, commissioning planning)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or an equivalent field
5-10 years of engineering / related work experience
Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
Proven ability to work autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Demonstrated positive impact on the business that translated to precise, bottom-line results by implementing step-function changes
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Robotic simulation for Industrial manufacturing process
Experience with Allen Bradley suite of products (Logix5000, Studio 5000, Factory Talk View) with a PackML methodology desired
Robot programming and integration in a manufacturing environment (Robot Engineer)
ROS (Robot Operating Systems) open-source programming.
Experience selecting and sizing electro-mechanical components (servo motors, sensors, pneumatics, heaters) and motion control
Experience managing internal and external partners on significant capital programs ($1M+)
Demonstrated skills in analyzing business needs, determining appropriate solutions and/or opportunities, and developing and deploying lean implementation strategies
