About the Job
80% Independent research
Independently and precisely execute bacterial physiology techniques and move multiple projects forward simultaneously.
15% Lab maintenance
Purchase lab chemicals and equipment, manage hourly students to maintain stocks of lab glassware, reagents, media.
5% Mentor undergraduate students
Train new students at the bench, coordinate students to collaboratively complete experiments when necessary.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
Minimum of one year of laboratory experience (undergraduate research is acceptable).
Experience with molecular techniques (e.g., cloning, protein purification).
Aseptic techniques.
Organized.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal).
Willingness/ability to occasionally work odd hours (ie, transportation to do so).

The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology is the academic home for a diverse and integrative group of scientists who study the genetics, ecology, evolution, and molecular biology of plants, fungi, and microbes.
