POSITION TITLE

Technical Manager Coatings Additives and Colorants, Americas

POSITION OVERVIEW

Support the development and growth of Borchers (A Milliken Brand) Coatings Additives and Colorants business unit in line with the business' commercial strategy for the Americas.

Primary responsibilities include leading the Westlake technical teams and oversees the day-to-day lab processes, needs and safety protocols for all Westlake technical teams.

This position will report directly to the Global Technical Director and is located in Westlake, Ohio.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Engage, develop, and lead the Westlake based technical service team
Coordinate lab activities to support business objectives, including R&D, co-supplier and application development work
Continuous improvement of lab processes
Responsible for driving Milliken EH&S processes with all technical associates
Maintain and create standard operating procedures
Organize, track and report on key milestones
Develop and maintain a high level of customer intimacy by cultivating strong relationship with the technical teams at strategic and key accounts
Ensure full engagement and compliance of timely data input into digital lab platform
Work closely with the sales team and distribution partners to align on the commercial and technical support strategy geared towards achievement of business growth goals
Maintain existing equipment
Specify and install new equipment (both replacement as well as new capabilities)
Present status reports to management
Work independently and in a cross-functional team environment
Coordinate with global labs to ensure consistent data and process, and share learnings, experiences, and challenges
Present at tradeshows and conferences

QUALIFICAIONS - REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or Polymer Science (or related technical field)
10+ years of relevant work experience in the CASE industry
Experience in team and lab management
Willing to travel up to 30%

The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:

MS or PhD in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or Polymer Science (or related technical field)
Strong formulating expertise in coatings
Strong data analysis/statistical background
Self-starter
Skills in presentation and written communication
Strong problem-solving skills
Discipline and process driven
Team building and motivational skills
