About the Job



The School of Public Health (SPH) is seeking applications for a full-time Research Professional 2 with an advanced proficiency in Spanish. The PARKS (Physical Activity and Recreation for Kids) study is an NIH funded study to examine park program fee waivers and family outreach strategies on youth physical activity and park and recreation program participation. This study partners with Minneapolis and St. Paul Park systems and neighborhood parks that serve lower-income diverse youth and families. This position focuses on data collection activities.

Responsibilities:
80% Manage park visits for participant enrollment and follow-up appointments
Visit various parks across St. Paul and Minneapolis to recruit, enroll, and complete follow-up appointments for study participants.
Maintain participant records and files, documenting participant enrollment and study activity in REDCap and FileMaker databases.
Perform technical procedures related to the study visits; set up new physical activity monitors and download data from used physical activity monitors.
20% Other study duties
Assist with study recruitment and retention activities.
Schedule participants for screening, baseline, and follow-up visits.
Conduct participant surveys.
Work arrangements:
Typically, three to four days per week will be spent conducting participant visits at various park and recreation centers. Expected hours on park visit days are 11:30 am - 7:30 pm. When not at a park, employee will do office work and those hours will typically be 9:00 - 5:00 or employee's preferred shift.

Starting compensation rate is dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications and internal equity: $26.93 - $28.85 ($56,014 - $60,008 annually)

Qualifications



All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required:
BA/BS with at least two years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience equal to six years
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good organizational skills, and ability to work independently as well as with a multidisciplinary team
Ability to work evenings
Ability to communicate well with people of diverse age, ethnicity, and educational backgrounds
Ability to maintain confidential or sensitive information
Reliable transportation and valid driver's license to get to research sites (the parks)
Reimbursement for mileage is provided.
Ability to conduct interviews following a structured process
Advanced proficiency in Spanish
Preferred:
Experience working with and adhering to protocol standards
Health data collection experience and entry in REDCap
Experience working with children in a research setting
