Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Microbeam Engineer/Scientist to join our team in Sunol, CA .

Microbeam Engineer / Scientist

ManTech International is seeking an energetic, skilled, and innovative individual to work in its analytical laboratory located in Sunol, CA. ManTech is a technically strong firm with a reputation for quality and integrity, a direct result of our dedicated, talented, and creative staff. ManTech performs materials characterization and related analytical services on government contracts. The activities of the group include elemental, morphological and structural analysis of materials on a production basis, maintenance of several scanning electron microscopes and ancillary equipment, development of new or improved analysis techniques, and quality assurance of analytical data. The successful candidate will be a key member in the Microbeam group responsible for sample characterization and analysis, instrument maintenance and operation, and technical and procedural improvements.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work as part of the microbeam team. Duties will include the following:

  • Perform scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy and diffraction on material supplied by our customer.

  • Assist with instrument and general laboratory maintenance.

  • Assist with ISO 17025 Quality Management System.

  • Contribute to advancement of Microbeam techniques, including technical advancements and devising new procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • MS in physical science, physics, chemistry, materials science. PhD preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Well organized, good at record keeping and documentation.

  • Solid time management skills.

  • Proficient with Word and Excel (or equivalent programs).

  • Good problem-solving skills, in sample analysis and troubleshooting technical equipment

  • Able to develop new protocols and procedures.

  • A self-starter, individually motivated, who can also work well in a team environment.

  • Able to handle new/unknown samples along with routine work.

  • Experience with scripting languages like Python

Clearance:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance.

  • Will be processed for a Secret Clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

The projected compensation range for this position is $99,200-$164,600. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
