ManTech Environmental Health and Safety Technician in College Park, Maryland

ManTech International Corporation is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Technician to support a nationally recognized advanced research laboratory. The work is performed in the College Park, Maryland area.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as the liaison with customers for the laboratory’s environmental, health and safety services.

  • Coordinating with project leaders to develop and implement remediation plans for health and safety concerns.

  • Working with scientific staff to develop standard operating procedures to ensure safe practices.

  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local government environmental health and safety requirements.

  • Overseeing, developing, initiating, and assessing conservation plans and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements across the organization through QA/QC process.

  • Managing hazardous waste, collection, storage, and disposal.

  • Managing wastewater treatment.

  • Monitoring and maintaining hazardous materials inventory for the laboratory.

  • Maintaining records on testing, incident reporting, hazard analysis, radioactive dosimeter, wastewater treatment, hazardous waste manifests, training, Safety Data Sheets, and evaluation directory.

  • Conducting workplace audits and inspections.

  • Addressing environmental safety and health concerns.

  • Training personnel in safety and emergency procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences or a related field and seven (7) years of experience providing environmental protection, safety, and health services in a laboratory environment.

  • Certification as a Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) is required.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing/walking/talking and must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another (at customer site).

  • Communicating with others to exchange information and frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate
