Donaldson Company, Inc. seeks a Senior Corporate Counsel who will play a critical role in the continued growth and overall success of the company. The Senior Corporate Counsel will report to the General Counsel and will partner with and provide strategic advice on complex legal and business matters. The Senior Corporate Counsel will be an in-house generalist with outstanding business development, risk management, outside counsel management, contract negotiation and problem-solving skills, excellent business acumen, a track record of success, and outstanding interpersonal skills. Role Responsibilities:
Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to the business and functional teams
Partner with the business team on strategic and tactical priorities of our businesses, balancing the need for practical legal/business solutions
Clearly and succinctly articulate and provide legal advice on complex legal and business matters to both executive and working level colleagues
Proactively identify and solve complex problems thinking beyond existing solutions and frameworks
Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the products and business priorities
Advise on regulatory issues with a focus on monitoring and improving controls, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Identify proactive solutions that will mitigate, manage or eliminate Donaldson's global legal risks
Conduct corporate training on various legal topics
Keep updated on, monitor, review and resolve day-to-day legal, regulatory and compliance issues as they arise
Determine need for, select, manage and evaluate outside counsel Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.)
Licensed attorney in the state of Minnesota (or ability to obtain a Minnesota license)
10+ years of legal experience
General corporate experience
Experience with selecting, managing and evaluating, and retaining outside counsel Preferred Qualifications:
Experience at a Global organization
Combination of in-house and outside counsel experience
Experience with financing, corporate and commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and distribution
Ability to quickly understand business objectives, identify related issues, and facilitate a risk/benefit analysis
Demonstrated experience thinking strategically to solve legal challenges
Proven negotiation experience as well as verbal and written communication skills
Excellent business judgment and problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate work as a global team member, supporting the overall priorities of the company
Ability to prioritize and make decisions with a focus on execution and results
Strong interpersonal skills and superior time management skills
Demonstrated ability to provide practical and strategic legal advice to management team
Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
Technical background and knowledge
