Job Overview

The 1819 Innovation Hub is seeking an experienced and creative storyteller with a strong foundation in planning, executing and deploying short-form content production. This position will help enhance 1819's brand through engaging articles and copy that tells our stories while bringing our mission to life in content suited for multiple mediums, including web and social media.

We are seeking a self-managed storyteller with a proven track record of success. This role is responsible for planning, capturing, editing and socializing short-form copy storytelling content that highlights innovators [students, faculty, staff, and guest in 1819, corporate partners, entrepreneurs, startups and makers in the Cincinnati Innovation District. The purpose is to generate excitement, buzz and engagement to capture the creative energy at the 1819 Innovation Hub.

Essential Functions


Seek and identify opportunities to document and celebrate moments, and lessons, that matter to key stakeholders.
Present content ideas proactively to anticipate the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
Drive projects forward - from initial concept through approval logistics to deployment.
Collaborate with the marketing and events team, to plan and execute production work.
Capture, edit and deploy storytelling on social media and innovation.uc.edu.
Collaborate with digital, marketing, communications, and department lead to develop concepts. and ideas and deliver a product cohesive with current communication and marketing strategies.
Drive how content is created to fill voids and unmet needs.
Be an asset to social media/content/creative/internal communication teams.
Work closely with department lead to meet deadlines for release of content.
Craft news stories, helpful content, sponsored content, feature stories on entrepreneurs, startups, etc.

Required Education


Bachelor's Degree in English Composition, Professional Writing, Creative Writing, or related field.
Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of relevant experience to include reviewing and editing documents, articles, books, etc.
