Meta Threat Investigator- Security Analyst in Washington, District Of Columbia

Summary:

Meta is seeking a Security Analyst to join the Influence Operations investigative team. The Influence Operations team is dedicated to protecting the users of the Facebook family of applications (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp, Oculus) from threats of online influence operations. We are a mission driven team with a passion for protecting people. We are seeking an experienced threat investigator to deeply understand how threat actors abuse the information environment, investigate complex threats, advance investigative methods and use innovative research approaches to protect people from influence operations. You will have the opportunity to work on the most challenging, complicated, and high-visibility security risks the company is facing. The impact of your work will be substantial, as outcomes could affect the billions of people who use our products. Required Skills:

Threat Investigator- Security Analyst Responsibilities:

  1. Investigate complex influence operations to understand how abuse manifests on Meta’s platforms and the wider information ecosystem.

  2. Lead a portfolio of investigative research to include identifying abuse trends, understanding adversarial behavior, and designing forward-looking enforcement strategies to mitigate harm.

  3. Leverage geopolitical, cultural and societal context in the application of this work.

  4. Proactively hunt for threats and undetected abuse by leveraging internal data sets, open-source intelligence, and third-party private intelligence.

  5. Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to advance investigations, quantify trends and support findings with clear, concise evidence.

  6. Take a leadership role in suggesting, prototyping, and teaching novel investigative techniques and analytic methodologies.

  7. Apply operational rigor to investigations and programs while looking for strategic improvement opportunities.

  8. Address sensitive content issues, including but not limited to graphic images, videos and writings, offensive or derogatory language, and other objectionable material.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 4+ years work experience performing security investigations in government, intelligence , cyber security, journalism and/or private sector organizations

  2. Experience leveraging SQL, OSINT and network security concepts in an investigative context.

  3. Adept at developing multi-source, evidence-based findings and communicating them to senior audiences.

  4. Experience working on high-impact threats under compressed timelines.

  5. Experience prioritizing and executing with minimal direction or oversight

  1. Experience working with Python, PHP or similar scripting languages

  2. Proven experience conducting large scale data analysis and utilizing big data tools such as Jupyter Notebook, Maltego, Palantir, etc

  3. Experience working or managing projects that have enterprise-wide impact and/or multi-organization cross functional stakeholders

  4. Experience working with a team spanning multiple locations/time zones

  5. Familiarity with sophisticated advanced persistent threat actors, influence operations research methodologies and domain trends.

  6. Experience with open source investigation techniques and familiarity with a variety of internet research tools.

  7. MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Intelligence Studies, Cybersecurity or related field

Public Compensation:

$137,000/year to $196,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
