GENERAL SUMMARY

The Initial License Class (ILC) Trainee attends initial certification class to obtain their Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) License from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Upon certification they will be fully licensed to supervise the operations of the nuclear reactor control room as a Control Room Supervisor.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provides leadership and mentoring of other initial license candidates (reactor operator candidates) in the training environment. Resolves personnel problems in the initial license class.

Directs the activities of other initial license class candidates in the training environment. Allocates work among the initial license class crew, reviews and improves procedures, assists, and trains other initial license class candidates as necessary.

Assists and coaches other members of the initial license class to obtain the required knowledge and skills necessary to pass the initial license class examinations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

(RO to SRO upgrade or Direct SRO licensed at another facility or military equivalent)

The candidate possesses a high school diploma or equivalent AND has one year or more as an active RO at CGS (RO upgrade to SRO).

OR one of the following*:

• At least one year as an active RO or SRO at a comparable (BWR) facility (same vendor/vintage)

• At least 1.5 years as an active RO or SRO at a non-comparable (BWR/PWR) facility

• At least 2 years in a position equivalent to reactor operator position at military reactor (qualified to manipulate or direct the manipulation of control rods). Qualifying titles include Reactor Operator, Engineering Officer of the Watch, Propulsion Plant Watch Officer, Engineering Watch Supervisor, Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor

*Candidates must also have at least six months of qualifying time on-site prior to attending initial certification class. Candidates will be hired at least six months in advance of class in order to meet this qualification.

(Direct SRO for Degreed candidates)

The candidate has a Bachelor’s of Science or equivalent in engineering, engineering technology or related sciences, or a PE, or a non-traditional degree

AND

Total responsible nuclear power plant experience equivalent to one of the following*:

• 18 months at a comparable facility

• 27 months at a non-comparable facility

• 36 months for a non-traditional degree

*Candidates must also have at least six months of qualifying time on-site prior to attending initial certification class. Candidates will be hired at least six months in advance of class in order to meet this qualification.

Pay Range

$108,279.00 - $162,419.00 Annual

Midpoint:

$135,349.00

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

Incentive Compensation

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
