Overview

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Responsible for assisting with the overall operations of The Learning Zone and summer programs, while focusing on

academic content of programming.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.  

Design daily lesson plans with director

Take charge of Learning Zone sessions in the absence of the director

Design an individual plan of study for each child based on his/her needs in collaboration with teachers, school officials and Learning Zone staff

Recruit, schedule, orientate, and direct volunteers as needed

Assist as liaison with school personnel

Be knowledgeable of the educational and holistic needs and concerns of children and their families

Provide referral/intervention to families in crisis

Assist with the development of programming as opportunities present themselves in keeping with the mission and vision of the Learning Zone/Summer Zone

Assist with statistical data and record keeping

Attend and/or help plan staff training

Represent Dewald Community Center and The Salvation Army with a high degree of professionalism, interfacing with the educational community to increase awareness while providing networking opportunities toward potential collaborations

Represent and promote the Learning Zone to the community and assist in funding proposals

Reports directly to the director of the Learning Zone

                            

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in oversight of program assistants and aides

Oversees volunteer coordination duties in the absence of the director

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field

Current teaching certification desired

 

 SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Background check is required through the Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation (BCII) and FBI
