This temporary student worker position is anticipated to last until June 30, 2025.

This position’s purpose is to assist the Municipal Wastewater program in data entry and filing needs.

Primary duties include:

Scan files and other program documents for the NPDES/SDS Permitting, Biosolids, Data Management, and Pretreatment programs. Import the scanned files and documents into Onbase in accordance with the approved filing taxonomy;

Assist the Water Quality Submittal center with document processing, which includes entering document receipt dates into Tempo and prepping documents for scanning;

Input monitoring data for analysis;

Entering program data into TEMPO including, but not limited to: Duty Office Report information, pretreatment monitoring data, biosolids site approval information, biosolids cumulative metals data, and biosolids annual report information;

Review, update, and verify existing data in TEMPO to ensure data accuracy and completeness;

Assist compliance, permitting and engineering staff in various program activities; and/or

Other administrative or program project needs.

The position would be under the direct supervision of the Municipal Wastewater Northeast/Northwest Regional Unit Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Post-secondary education student working on an Environmental science/studies, biological/ecological studies, water/wastewater, hydrology, geography or related degree.

(To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be "off' for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student, you must be enrolled in high school or in a post­ secondary or graduate program. If a student is enrolled at a credit granting institution, he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.)

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with TEMPO.

Experience with data entry.

Oral and written communication skills sufficient to communicate with internal and external customers.

Ability to work independently and with others.

Accomplished in using computer programs (Microsoft office products, e-mail, internet, outlook).

Ability to follow directions and carry-out detailed processes.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or moving light objects frequently. A job is in this category may require maintaining a stationary position to a significant degree or may involve a certain amount of moving necessary in carrying out job duties.

Additional Requirements

Position duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver’s license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
