Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve asSecond Lieutenantto join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.

The successful candidate will serve as a Second Lieutenant in support of the Protective Force Section at the Department of Energy Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Provide physical security for a nuclear facility to include protection of nuclear/ radiological materials, employees and visitors, government property, and sensitive information. Respond to security and non-security related incidents, and interface and coordinate with other first-responders. Functions include but not limited to: Conduct daily crew briefings, Submit incident reports, ensure WebEOC is accurate and completed daily, maintain crew shift activity reports, coordinate and conduct LSPTs and drills to ensure crew readiness and fill in for the shift Lieutenant when required. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.

After you are hired, you must be able to pass a Federal background investigation and obtain a DOE -Q- Security Clearance within two (2) years of your start date, and maintain that clearance to continue employment. You must maintain the ability to pass all medical and physical fitness standards as well as other required job-specific qualification programs to continue employment.

Exempt Salary Grade (28-29)

  • Bachelor-s Degree or

  • Associate-s Degree and two (2) years of working experience*, or

  • High School Diploma with four (4) years of working experience is required.*

  • Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

*Must include 2 years in any combination of Corrections, Law Enforcement, Security or Military experience.

Minimum salary $67,817 per year-- Base salary will be increased upon candidate's background (i.e., education and experience)
