Robert Half Network Engineer: III (Senior) in Columbus, Ohio

Description We are seeking a Network Automation Engineer based in Columbus, Ohio. This role is critical in our telecom provider team, focusing on the development of code that assists with repeatable processes within the network and telecommunication environments. The role involves designing, implementing, testing, and documenting network scripts and libraries, as well as administering network-related applications and their underlying systems. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Develop code to assist with repeatable processes in the network and telecommunication environments.

• Design, implement, test, and document network scripts and libraries.

• Administer network-related applications and their underlying systems.

• Perform advanced network reporting and mentor entry level engineers.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hardware, software, and network technology and recommend modifications as required.

• Create technical documentation in accordance with our Change Control and project management processes and procedures.

• Identify manual operational tasks and develop automation to solve problems.

• Support end-to-end network technologies such as routers, switches, VPN appliances, firewalls, proxies, load Balancers, DNS appliances, and wireless devices.

• Proficiency in large scale software development in languages such as C, C++, Perl, Windows Powershell, VMware PowerCLI, Linux Bash shell scripting, Python 3.x, Java, C# .net, JavaScript and Go.

• Proficiency in Infrastructure automation technologies - Ansible, Puppet, Chef in addition to building APIs and services using REST, SOAP, etc.

• Build integrations via API’s between various systems.

• Experience working with ServiceNow integrations.

• Proficiency with API Development.

• Proficiency with various Python libraries used for Network Automation.

• Proficiency with Cisco-based infrastructure and associated APIs.

• Proficiency with various network tools such as Splunk, Zenoss, InfoBlox, Endace, LiveAction, etc.

• Proficiency with AWS Technologies and Microsoft Azure.

• Experience using Git for version control. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in network engineering

• Proven experience with cloud technologies such as AWS Technologies and Microsoft Azure

• Strong knowledge of programming languages including JavaScript, Python, Java, R Code, C++, and Go

• Familiarity with Automation practices and libraries

• Thorough understanding of network procedures and best practices

• Experience with monitoring tools and integration systems

• Proven experience in project management and change management

• Ability to troubleshoot network issues effectively

• Knowledge of policy documentation processes

• Proficiency in Linux operating systems

• Experience in Agile work environments

• Understanding of REST API utilization

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work well in a team and independently

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
