Intel Labs is seeking motivated graduate interns for a virtual internship conducting research on knowledge retrieval systems and language models. This is a temporary position working with research mentors in the Brain-Inspired Computing Lab (BCL) located in Santa Clara, California, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

At BCL, you will work with other Intel teams and researchers around the world to develop new forms of artificial intelligence and to study the best underlying computing technologies for it. You will research, experiment with, and prototype ideas that impact Intel and its customers.

During your internship, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating new artificial intelligence algorithms and systems inspired by neuroscience and the cognitive sciences. This requires some familiarity with techniques in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and relevant software frameworks. Experience in neuroscience and the cognitive sciences is not required, but interest in them will benefit you. You will work in a team-oriented collaborative environment to meet your goals. You are expected to utilize state-of-the-art techniques, form strong relationships with researchers and key collaborators, and contribute to Intel technologies and/or the scientific literature. You will be expected to focus on a specific project of mutual interest to you and your mentor(s), focusing on a key research question that will move your work forward.

Qualifications


You must possess the below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.



Minimum Qualifications:

·The candidate must be pursuing a Master Degree or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science or a relevant engineering/science discipline.

·1+ year of research experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or algorithms

·1+ year of experience in implementing algorithms in high-level programming languages such as Python, C++, etc.


Preferred Qualifications:

·Publications in top-tier conferences and journals in artificial intelligence or machine learning (NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, CVPR, ICLR, EMNLP, etc.)

·1 year of experience in deep learning and related frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.)

·1 year of experience developing novel algorithms

·1 year of experience working with language models

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado, New York, Washington, California: $63,000.00-$166,000.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience


Working Model


This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
