The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is recognized as a national leader in education, research, and clinical medicine. Representing the only academic medical center in the region, the faculty and staff have been trained in an environment of excellence and understand the importance of offering the highest standard of patient care and advancing future care options through the performance of innovative research. The faculty consists of full-time physicians and scientists who are engaged in research, patient care, and teaching.

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is recruiting a full time Nurse Practitioner to support the Sleep Medicine program. This individual will provide comprehensive, continuous, and personalized patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations; facilitate the delivery of care in both inpatient and outpatient situations; and perform independently or as part of a treatment team.

Essential Functions


Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in diagnosing sleep medicine problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's record; write letters to referring providers, progress notes, and other documentation of patient-provider interaction; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
Collaborate with other specialties to assist them in caring for sleep patients and assist non-sleep providers in ordering sleep studies and equipment appropriately.
Help design and implement disease management programs for various sleep disorders.
Interact with insurance companies and equipment supplier companies acting as patients' advocates.
May make work assignments for assigned nursing and technical personnel; review the work of lower rated employees; train new personnel.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Education

Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program

Required Trainings/Certifications


Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority
Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty

Required Experience


Three (3) years nursing experience.
Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
