Job Summary
Group Risk Management is responsible for providing independent and objective oversight of the management of significant risks arising from RBC's businesses and operations, supported by comprehensive risk management frameworks, policies and practices, robust risk management systems, and experienced professionals. Key internal and external stakeholders rely on the effective execution of GRM accountabilities. The roles and responsibilities of the various internal stakeholders in the ownership, monitoring, escalation and oversight of risks are captured in RBC's Enterprise Risk Management Framework and supporting risk-specific frameworks.


Job Description
What is the Opportunity?'
This position has responsibility for providing independent risk oversight of US Wealth Management platform (USWM).
What will you do?
Providing effective second line risk oversight of the Wealth Management business operations in United States.
Assisting in Wealth Management Group risk management activities including the ongoing development and implementation of risk controls for USWM, the aggregation and delivery of material risk updates to the senior management committees and development and maintenance of risk control frameworks
Executing robust, effective and sustainable risk management practices and programs.
Assist in implementation of new product initiatives
Proactive identification of emerging risks (operational, liquidity, credit, market risk) and communication of these risks to senior management as appropriate
Collate, challenge and ensure consistency of risk reporting for USWM Operating Committee, and US RBC NY Branch and where required RBC CUSO Risk Committees
Support USWM Director to Coordinate and provide input to Enterprise Reporting Initiatives (ERR, GRM Review) to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Undertake various risk-related projects, requiring effective coordination across wide numbers of GRM and Business groups.
Reviewing Audit and Compliance reviews for risk themes requiring additional focus.
Supporting the Director - GRM USWM and Senior Director - GRM WM North America with broader ERM matters impacting Wealth Management operations in United States, incl. prudential regulatory change, US WM input to broader Wealth Management & Enterprise level initiatives and sundry tasks.
What do you need to succeed?
Bachelors Degree quantitative discipline.
5-7 years of experience in financial services risk management
Proven communication skills (both writing and presentation)
Strong knowledge of the custody or depositary bank business and its products
Ability to handle complexity and work in a matrix environment
Proven ability to effectively navigate conflict
Diplomatic and constructive in negotiation, excellent stakeholder management skills required
