Overview
The Coborn's Inc. payroll team is hiring for our next Payroll Specialist! To be successful in this role, you will need to bring your "Say Yes to the Guest" attitude, as you will support over 10,000 of our internal guests, our employees! As a Payroll Specialist, you will assist in the day-to-day operations of the payroll department and perform all activities necessary to prepare and process the bi-weekly multi-company multi-state payroll. Multi-state payroll experience is also a bonus as Coborn's is in 6 different states, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

In addition, you will:
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, enter earnings and deductions, maintenance of employee data in the payroll system, and provide remarkable support to employees.
Run various weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports and audits that support payroll and accounting processes and compliance requirements.
Manage the day-to-day processing of levies, garnishments, and child support orders. This includes set up in the payroll system, timely responses to agencies, completion of earning disclosures, notification to employees, and processing of the payments to the garnishment and child support agencies.
Assist in all day-to-day activities that support the payroll processes. This will include ensuring accurate time records are submitted properly and approved in a timely way in the system for payroll processing and following up with company leaders as necessary for corrections.
Maintain and administer the company travel and expense processes. Responsibilities include maintaining the policy, employee communication, ensuring proper documentation is submitted, and ensuring timely reimbursement of expenses through the payroll process.
Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and company leaders for payroll-related questions and inquiries, this includes but is not limited to maintaining the payroll department email and telephonic hotline.
Maintain employee information in the system relating to payroll taxes, deductions, and benefits. Will also partner with the HR team and assist with the maintenance of various employee benefits and pay record entries.
Assist with the processing of week one payroll, special check runs, and manual checks. Will also serve as the primary backup for the Payroll Manager. You will also participate in special payroll and accounting projects, and assist with the creation and maintenance of all payroll process checklists and procedure documentation.
Support various payroll and accounting processes to include running reports and conducting internal audits, supporting external company audits, preparing payroll tax forms and tax reporting to include 940/941 and W-2 processes.


Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in related field and/or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum of 1 to 3 years of multi-state payroll experience preferred.
Accounts payable experience a plus but not required.

SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES
Job Skills
Knowledge of the principles and techniques involved in payroll administration and payroll related accounting practices; awareness of state and federal laws related to payroll practices, payroll recordkeeping, and garnishments.
Computer Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and email systems
Working knowledge of payroll systems; UKG payroll system experience preferred but not required.
Certificates, Registrations and Licenses
Payroll Certification preferred.
