FARM EQUIPMENT MECHANIC & SERVICE TECHNICIAN, X3, Toppenish This is a job order for operating farm machinery including trucks and tractors. Mechanics must be able to: • Rebuild a diesel engine, put piston/sleeves/bearings in an engine, replace fuel injectors, diagnose engine problems on semitrucks and Case IH ag tractors, rebuild heavy duty transmissions on semitrucks • Preform a complete overhaul on a diesel engine, time diesel engines, change a heavy-duty clutch on a semi-truck • Work on PTO systems (Power Take Off) systems, planting and tillage equipment, jake breaks • Harvest preparation includes preparing equipment, trucks, trailers, tractors, harvesters and field equipment Operating farm machinery including trucks and tractors • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and maneuver any weight above 50 pounds with assistance on a regular basis. • Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions • Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, electrical, lights, and exhausts • Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, wheel bearings, brakes, tires, turbos, starters, alternators, compressors, water pumps, engines and other associated parts • Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown • Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance • Completing oil changes, alignment and brake checks Diesel engine types • Detroit Diesel Series 60 • N-14 • ISX-15 • C12 • C10 • 3208 • 3406 • DT466 • ECT Training: There will be a demonstration period to familiarize workers with job specifications and to demonstrate proper methods and other crop specific issues. JOB REQUIREMENTS - Must have at least twelve (12) months of Agricultural Equipment Maintenance.
- The job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
- Work may take place when temperatures are below freezing and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Workers will be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing farm labor such as harvest preparation.
- Ability to lift and/or load 50 lbs.
HOURS/DAYS/SCHEDULE Contract period is February 5 to November 1, 2024 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday Work Schedule is 7:00AM-4:00PM SALARY/WAGE/BENEFITS Wage offer $26.53/hour No work will be performed at less than the Adverse Effect Wage Rate (AEWR) of $17.97 AEWR The payroll period is biweekly. HOUSING The Employer will offer housing at no cost for the Workers if applicable, and to those in corresponding employment who are not reasonably able to return to their residence within the same day in accordance with 20 CFR 655.122(d). Separate sleeping rooms will be designated for male and female workers. Kitchen and other common facilities will be shared. TRANSPORTATION The Employer will offer transportation to and from employer provided housing to the work site, at no cost to workers who qualify. MEALS The employer will provide the opportunity for three prepared meals a day to each worker, and if meals are provided, each employee will be charged $15.46 per day for meals or the current allowable charge as designated by DOL. THREE-FOURTHS Employer agrees to offer the worker employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period beginning with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ending on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. TOOLS Employer agrees to provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned.
