Job Overview

The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking full-time employees to perform the duties of Clinical Research Assistants. The Clinical Research Assistant will assist researchers with clinical studies by documenting participant information, interacting with research participants as needed, completing study-related data entry, scheduling appointments and tests, etc.

These positions are second (2nd) and weekend shifts and the primary work location will be University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Essential Functions


Assist physicians, nurses and researchers during clinical studies and public health projects.
Perform routine physical/clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, HIV and HCV testing.
Prepare procedure room, change linen and paper, stock gowns, sheets and other supplies.
Schedule study-related appointments by phone; schedule return visits and tests.
Clean instruments and equipment and sterilize working area.
Welcome and assist study participants with registration. Provide general information concerning the study or project. Assist with completing necessary paperwork and ensure that all the appropriate data has been included.
Provide administrative assistance to leads and principal investigators with documentation needs and research data maintenance and reporting
Accurately enters data from electronic medical records, or paper research charts, into study specific electronic data capture systems in a timely manner for industry-sponsored, federally funded, public health projects, or investigator initiated clinical research studies.
Provide HIV/HCV risk reduction counseling and testing to Emergency Department and community patients.
Duties can span a broad range of activities or be primarily focused within one or more areas of the clinical research spectrum (HIV/HCV/SUD and community outreach).
Work a variable schedule that could include emergency department or community sites, day, evening and night shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.

Required Education


High School Diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications Considered


Associate's Degree
Two (2) years of healthcare related workforce experience (HIV/HCV testing or substance use disorder)

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
