The Building People Senior Energy and Sustainability Manager in Washington, District Of Columbia
The Building People, LLC, has an opening for a Senior Energy and Sustainability Manager (SESM). The SESM will be responsible for supporting a senior government agency and their portfolio in downtown Washington DC. The traditional certified energy manager (CEM) skill sets are required to assist the customer in their energy management, GHG goals and increase the general sustainability of their real estate portfolio. The SESM will be responsible for overseeing, managing, and ensuring all required data is maintained in assigned databases and workbooks, identifying low/no cost energy or water savings opportunities, and coordinating required sustainability initiatives (e.g., EO 14057). Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in energy-related disciplines and must have an active CEM. The ideal candidates will be familiar with federal energy mandates, major building systems, and can perform or assist with ASHRAE energy audits. This position requires the candidate be able to be onsite 3 days a week in downtown Washington DC.
Required Experience & Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with a team
Proficient in Microsoft Office and G-Suite applications
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work autonomously with the client
Oversee, manage and ensure all required data is maintained in assigned databases and workbooks
Be able to conduct load profile analysis, and identify opportunities for utility savings and/or detrimental trends
Develop graphics and excel based analyses to support building operation analyses and required reporting
Comprehension of utility tariff structures and pricing
General understanding of renewable energy and smart building technologies
Familiarity with federal energy and sustainability policy requirements
Assist federal client in determining their GHG footprint, and assist with measures to reduce it
Assist or perform ASHRAE audits
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the skillsets described above
Preferred Experience & Skills
Familiarity with utility billing and invoice processing workflow
Familiarity with major building systems
Familiarity with GHG reporting
ASHRAE Certification and ability to perform ASHRAE audits
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Certified Energy Manager Certification
Preferred Education
- Professional Engineering Degree
Place of Performance & Travel
Ability to work on client site in downtown Washington DC at least 3 days a week
Overnight travel is not anticipated
