Minneapolis, MN

Technology & Product Support
Student (College)

LinkUp is a Minneapolis-based alternative data provider with a singular vision of delivering perfect job market information to our clients and users. We do this through proprietary and sophisticated technology that allows us to index millions of jobs directly from company websites around the world every day. We’re the global leader in delivering accurate, real-time, and predictive job market data and analytics to clients across industries to help them assess labor demand, understand trends, predict job growth and decline, and so much more.

We are seeking individuals who will be key contributors to our web data engineering team to support the ongoing growth of the company.

About the role
You'll work as part of a fun team, using your growing skill set to help us scour the internet to build the world's best index of job opportunities and job market data.

Location
The web programming internship is a hybrid position that allows for remote work but will also require a minimum of 8 hours each week in our downtown Minneapolis office.

If you intend to spend time working remotely, you'll want to make sure the following are available to you:

  • A relatively distraction-free environment to work in
  • Reliable internet connection for working and participating in video meetings
  • A computer/laptop/equipment with which to access your personal cloud workspace

Also of note, we cannot facilitate candidates who are international/require a work visa/et cetera.

Compensation
This is a paid internship ideal for non-traditional students who are working on or have completed a technical degree or coding boot camp certificate. The pay is $20 per hour for 20 hours a week. Since this is a part-time internship, the role does not meet the requirements to be benefits-eligible for health/dental benefits, vacation, holiday pay, or 401K plan participation.

Duration and Timing
This internship runs for 5-6 months with multiple start dates available.

To be successful, you'll need the following

  • Working towards or recently acquiring a degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science or related field
  • Some experience programming in one or more modern programming languages (you'll learn PHP here if you don't already know it)
  • A baseline understanding of web technologies and protocols
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work both collaboratively and independently

Someone that would be a great fit

  • Gets excited about metrics and analytics
  • Loves to write code and manipulate data
  • Sees data in everything and wants to take things apart and tinker
  • Has a natural tendency to automate and streamline things
  • Has a habit of setting measurable goals and blowing past them
  • Mentions peanut butter pretzels in their cover letter
  • Knows the importance of clean, consistent, documented code
  • Can read and understand code written by other people
  • Loves being a critical part of a team doing meaningful work
  • Doesn't fill out this application using AI tools
