About the Job

The Office for Public Engagement (OPE) works with programs, departments, and academic units on the five University campuses to establish the institutional culture, policies, and infrastructure that promotes high-quality public engagement to further the University's mission and improve the quality of life of Minnesotans and communities around the world. Additional reporting units include the Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL), the University Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC), and the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs (CURA).
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engagement Impact Manager is responsible for collecting, tracking, analyzing, and reporting public engagement activity and impact data for the University of Minnesota system. It does not require high-level statistical skills; rather, the focus is on conceptualizing, coordinating, and reporting about community engagement activities. This position reports to the Vice Provost for Public Engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the Public Engagement Footprint initiative, a database and map that details the breadth and scope of the University's service, outreach, and community engagement across the state of Minnesota and beyond. Advancing this initiative will include working with collegiate and campus administrators, faculty, and staff to encourage and support participation in the initiative.
Track and measure the impacts of the University's public engagement activities through data sources such as the faculty reporting system, sponsored projects, course catalog and enrollment data, and additional institutional data systems.
Oversee the onboarding, adoption, and implementation of GivePulse, the university system for documenting community engagement.
In collaboration with team members and stakeholders, develop appropriate metrics, tracking, and evaluation strategies for the University's public engagement activities.
Provide consultation for public engagement units on strategies and best practices in data and evaluation practices.
Coordinate with OPE staff members on the implementation and utilization of a systemwide data collection software to create more consistent and sustainable public engagement data strategies.
Clean, analyze, and communicate public engagement data in alignment with various stakeholder groups, including the Executive Vice President and Provost, Office of the President, Board of Regents, Chancellors, other senior administrators, University Senate committees, public engagement faculty and staff, legislators, and external community partners.
With the Director for Public Engagement Initiatives, prepare and coordinate public engagement reports that support rankings and accreditation submissions including (but not limited to) the Carnegie Foundation Elective Classification for Community Engagement, Time Higher Education Impact Rankings, the Higher Learning Commission submission, Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) findings, etc.
Represent OPE on public engagement data and evaluation needs and efforts.
Participate in internal staff meetings and OPE's strategic plan development and implementation.
Assist, as needed, with other large-scale Office for Public Engagement projects and activities such as events and conferences.
