Galion City Schools presents an unparalleled opportunity with the launch of its first-in-the-region Cadets at School Program, affiliated with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP). Drawing inspiration from Junior ROTC Programs nationwide, this program will welcome students from grades 6 to 12 to embark on an extraordinary experience as a CAP Cadet with the backing of Galion City Schools and the US Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol!

We are looking for a teacher to answer this call to action: join us in shaping future aerospace and community leaders, blending the thrill of aerospace with the traditions of military excellence and CAP values. During the school day, you will teach the CAP-provided curriculum that covers leadership theory, STEM, aerospace science, character development, uniform wear, drill and ceremonies, and more! If you're passionate about youth development, your leadership could be the beacon that guides tomorrow's leaders skyward.

Qualifications:

-Satisfactorily pass an initial FBI background check and subsequent FBI checks every five (5) years.
-Eligible for or possess a State of Ohio Teaching License.
-Preferred but not required: A Reserve, National Guard, retired or veteran noncommissioned or commissioned officer in the pay grade of E-5 and above or O-2 and above with an excellent record of military performance.
-Must have completed, or be willing to complete, Level I of the CAP Senior Member Education and Training Program as outlined in CAPR 40-1 within 120 days of employment.
-Must comply with CAP uniform standards per CAPR 39-1.
-The Board may find such alternatives to the above qualifications appropriate and acceptable.

Key Responsibilities:

Innovative Curriculum Development and Instruction: Design and implement compelling lesson plans in aerospace education, leadership principles, and emergency services training tailored to a Junior ROTC-style program. Use diverse teaching methodologies and instructional materials to meet student needs and spark interest.
-Mentorship and Student Development: Actively encourage and track the progress of individual students, providing mentorship and support to cadets as they navigate the CAP’s Cadets at School Program. Foster leadership qualities, self-discipline, and confidence among cadets.
-Community and Program Advocacy: Lead and participate in community outreach events to promote aerospace education and share the benefits of the CAP Cadet Program.
-Comprehensive Emergency Services Training: Equip cadets with necessary skills for emergency services missions through hands-on exercises and simulations, emphasizing community service, search and rescue, and disaster relief.
-Continuous Professional Growth: Stay abreast of the latest educational techniques and advancements in aviation and aerospace. Engage in professional development to refine teaching capabilities and deepen aerospace knowledge.
