Required Skills:
Initial selection of the Chain Maker Trainee will be made by a joint Company/Union committee. The committee will interview candidates and provide input into the selection based on the following factors:

1. Physical requirements
2. Mechanical Assessments and abilities
3. Experience in machine setups
4. Experience in operating Material Handling equipment
5. Computer skills
6. Communication and ability to train

All employees are required to:

1. Complete and pass formal 6-month training program including classroom and hands
on instruction.
2. Must be able to operate machine sets in their assigned work cell.
3. Abide by safety policies, operator preventative maintenance and housekeeping
practices.
4. Ensure the quality specification of the product.
5. Accurately complete process and quality documentation.
6. Performs Material Handling duties to move raw and finished goods.
7. Must be able to work in partnership with other operators in assigned work cell.
8. Reasoning ability to define problems, collect information and draw valid
conclusions.
9. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram
form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
11. Communicate respectfully with others.
12. Work with limited supervision.

Job Description:
All employees must be able to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

As directed by supervisory personnel or from verbal or written instructions including, blueprints, routing sheets, work instructions and any other production forms required by management, performs a variety of duties which include but are not limited to the following: sets up and operates oval link forming, welding, and calibrating machines (one former, welder, and calibrator per set) regularly producing heat treated and or non-heat treated chain and other machines as required; makes necessary adjustments and repairs; makes frequent checks on chain being formed and welded to insure high quality and adherence to specifications; records necessary information on production forms; uses hand an power tools and measuring instruments in performance of the job.
