Cayuse Holdings Occupational Therapist in Washington, District Of Columbia

Overview

The Occupational Therapist should perform services in accordance with Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and American Medical Association (AMA) standards. The therapist will provide treatments and interventions to increase the safety and independence of their patients' desired activities of daily living and functional mobility. All duties and responsibilities are performed in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients' conditions by reviewing their medical history, interviewing them, and observing them perform various tasks.

  • Develop and implement treatment plans that have specific activities to help patients work toward their goals.

  • Help patients relearn and perform daily living tasks, such as teaching a person who has had a stroke how to get dressed.

  • Demonstrate exercises—for example, stretching the joints for arthritis relief—to help relieve patients' pain

  • Maintain and record patients' activities and progress for patient evaluations.

  • Adjusting treatment plans to reflect changes in ability

  • INFORMATION SHARING: Sharing of Resident medical information (inclusive of electronic medical records) at AFRH-W shall follow all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program.

  • The Occupational Therapist must have successfully completed the clinical affiliation requirements prescribed by the school, as well as the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and maintains certification in the (NBCOT).

  • The Occupational Therapist shall have at least two (2) years of professional occupational therapy experience, in the field of geriatrics.

  • The Occupational Therapist shall possess a valid current license in the District of Columbia.

  • The following documents are required for credentialing the physical therapists:

  • Current License

  • Certification

  • Professional School attended (to include diplomas)

  • Declaration of Health

  • Relevant Training or Experience

  • Initial Application for Clinic Privileges

  • Delineation of Privileges

  • Statement of Application

  • Privacy Act Statement

  • Curriculum Vitae

  • CPR Certification

  • Continuing Education Certificates

  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Minimum Skills:

  • Must be able to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.

  • Must possess problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.

  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.

  • Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.

  • Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.

  • Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.

Reports to: Director of Rehabilitation Services

Working Conditions

  • Professional Walk-in medical clinic with high patient volume environment.

  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties while standing for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.

  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.

  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.

  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.

  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.

  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required.

  • Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.

  • May be exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Pay Range

USD $95,000.00 - USD $105,000.00 /Yr.
