About the Job
The Business Unit (BU)/Engineering Manager role is a key leadership opportunity that is primarily responsible for owning the Victoreen business unit, including the local engineering team in Solon, OH to deliver and sustain nuclear power radiation monitoring systems. This includes both standard and custom continuous area monitors, radiation detectors, process monitors and remote indicators and alarms. The right candidate will have the commercial ability to understand the market needs and turn them into strategy and results for the business, as well as the technical ability to direct a team responsible for translating technical requirements into effective engineering designs and processes that directly enable revenue. In addition, the management of engineering team members and their career development is critical to success. This position will report to the Director of Product and Marketing for the Landauer/Victoreen business unit.
Responsibilities
Assess strategic growth options and articulate the go-forward strategy for the Victoreen business
Effectively lead the Victoreen engineering organization to craft, develop, and deliver custom radiation monitoring solutions for the Nuclear industry
Work directly with customers and sales to build and verify project proposals ensuring that requirements and capabilities are in alignment.
Drive collaboration across internal functions (sales, engineering, operations, quality) to achieve financial targets for bookings and revenue.
Champion and implement process improvements within the engineering team and across the business
Develop employees to support career growth
Qualifications
BS in Engineering, Nuclear engineering/industry experience a plus, MBA or equivalent experience preferred
Commercial experience crafting and implementing strategy for technical, project-based businesses
Experience in engineering project management and leading technical teams
Experience working multi-functionally to achieve financial targets across sales, operations, engineering, and quality
Experience in regulated industries and/or experience with regulatory standards associated with product development in the nuclear power industry
Experience launching new products including working with manufacturing and suppliers
Preference for on-site, Ability to travel up to 15% of time, domestic and international
If not local, must have the ability to be onsite up to 50% of the time
