Twining Consulting Staff Geologist in Fountain Valley, California

Staff Geologist - Fountain Valley, CA

Twining Consulting, Inc., an innovative engineering, testing, and inspection company, is seeking a Staff Geologist for our Fountain Valley office. This position will involve both office and field technical engineering assignments and assistance with project management. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is looking to make an immediate impact to our growing geotechnical engineering department and for a candidate looking to grow within the organization.

Qualified candidates will perform the following duties:

  • Provide support to the companys geotechnical operations.
  • Support management on materials testing and inspection services.
  • Perform drilling activities and CPT field work in support of geotechnical investigations.
  • Prepare boring logs and laboratory testing results in Gint, and geotechnical report figures in AutoCAD.
  • Prepare calculations and report writing for geotechnical investigations.
  • Coordination and scheduling of drill rigs, boring permits, mark boring locations and notifying dig alert in preparation of field investigations.
  • Prepare compaction reports and/or data compilation for geotechnical related construction projects.
  • Develop skills of proposal writing for geotechnical work, both construction related and geotechnical field investigations.
  • Provide support and oversight of our geotechnical related construction projects.

Required Competencies Include:

  • BS degree in geology/ engineering geology preferred.
  • California G.I.T. registration required within one year.
  • A minimum of one year of geology/geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits an advanced ability to analyze problems and develop alternative strategies to solve them.
  • Experience in both design and construction related aspects of geotechnical engineering.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate clearly with co-workers, clients, and potential clients.
  • Ability to maintain company established chargeability goals.
  • Ability to work closely with the marketing group to acquire geotechnical investigation projects.
  • Experienced with AutoCAD and Gint software programs.
