Job Description:

60% - Space Verification & Audits

  • Record all rooms with furniture provided by housing.

  • Record measurements of all areas within student rooms (bed heights, closets, dressers, windows, etc.

  • Assist with room inspections within buildings as needed.

  • Set-up and move furniture within spaces.

  • Organize and record locations/status of Housing & Residence Life Temporary Access Cards.

  • Assist in key audits and managing building access for camps/conferences.

  • Audit all supplies within common spaces located in housing buildings.

25% - Organizing Housing Information/Spaces

  • Clean & organize common spaces used by Housing staff throughout the year.

  • Organize information located in the Housing & Residence Life systems by academic year.

  • Purge outdated materials.

  • Assist in preparing for August Move-In by organizing volunteer information, Housing & Residence Life apparel (shirts & name tags).

  • Clean out and organize front desk areas.

  • Audit all supplies utilized by KU Housing & Residence Life staff.

10% - KU ID Card and Temporary Access Card Assistance

  • Collect KU ID Cards from the KU Card Center.

  • Sort KU ID Cards by student room assignments and distributes to various Housing & Residence Life locations.

  • Sort Temporary Access Cards by student room assignments and distributes to various student locations.

  • Log out Temporary Access Cards assigned to students within the Student Housings room management system (Mercury).

  • Assist the Associate Director with tracking residents that do not have a KU ID Card.

5% - Performs other related work as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Position Overview:

Housing & Residence Life provides on-campus housing to students at KU. The Temporary Office Assistant position will assist with administrative duties; preparation for move-in; and data entry and audits. This position will be based in the Housing & Residence Life administrative office, with 20-35 hours weekly available through August 26. After that time, based on departmental needs, it may be possible to continue work for up to 10 hours/week. Work shifts will be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm.
