Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Five years of experience administrating employee health and welfare programs. Grade 5EPosition Description:Job SummaryCounsel and educate faculty, staff, dependents and retirees on benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, long term disability, leave time, FML, tuition remission, retirement and any other programs that may be added. Under the direction of the Benefits Manager, the Benefits Specialist II provides day-to-day administration and technical support for the benefits and retirement functional areas including monitoring and updating data in Workday. This position is responsible for the maintenance of benefits and retirement deductions through the payroll system and the payment and reconciliation of all related financial transactions. Including wire transfers, monthly billing, and vendor invoice payments. Special Projects as needed.Position is located on the Belknap Campus with a hybrid/remote work arrangement with 3 days per week in office. A rotation at the Health Sciences Campus (HSC) and in person visits to customers may be required.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain benefit and retirement deductions in the human resources information system.Process benefit and retirement enrollment changes - New hires, Qualified Life Events, terminations, etc.Manage the retroactive benefit deductions process and enters manual adjustments as needed.Manage the benefit arrears process.Balance benefit deductions upon completion of each payroll cycle.Process benefit and retirement wires upon completion of each payroll cycle.Responsible for the billing and payment process for all benefit vendors. Reconciles billing invoices against payroll deductions and generates self-billed invoices for vendors. Completes routine data audits and benefit and retirement reconciliations on a regular basis.Develop and maintain documentation of critical benefits processes and procedures.Provide customer service, administrative, tactical, and system transaction support for a wide range of employee benefit tasks and processes. Provide analytical, technical, process, and project support to the Benefits team and others within Total Rewards.Maintain, monitor and process all benefits-related data within Workday and in vendor systems/records. Also serve as subject matter expert for various benefit programs.Conduct benefits presentation at New Hire Orientation and assist in open enrollment by attending/conducting benefits fairs, responding to employee questions, etc.Preferred Qualifications5+ years experience administering employee health and welfare benefits.Experience administering benefits in a higher education environment.Proven communication skills, use time effectively and efficiently, critical thinking, organization, compassion, and detail oriented.Advanced Excel Skills.Experience with auditing and maintenance of payroll systems and the payment reconciliation of all related financial transactions.Analytical and able to evaluate data and other information with the ability to choose the best solution and make recommendations.Experience with Workday.Position will post until filled.
