Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist

Job Description: Ultrasound Tech sought for 13 week assignment, with the potential to extend. Schedule would be 5x8 day shifts from 8a to 430p. Tech will perfom routine examinations in Ultrasound, adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results, and prepare patients for examinations. Role requires independent judgement to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist.

Essential Job Functions:

-Performs ultrasound procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages.

-Exhibits competency in performing ultrasound procedures.

-Images required views demonstrating appropriate anatomy and pathology.

-Obtains accurate histories and explains rationale for procedure to patients/families.

-Enhances image quality through the use of appropriate transducers and machine settings.

-Evaluates the finished images to ensure diagnostic exams are being submitted to the radiologists.

-Maintains quality care throughout the procedure.

-Assess the abdominal arterial & venous system using color imaging.

-Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function in all areas of ultrasound.

-Technically knowledgeable of equipment operation including hardware and software.

-Performs reasonable trouble shooting.

-Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels & documents on board for all staff notification.

-Maintains clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that room.

-Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels.

-Able to document area of concern.

-Performs support functions of the Medical Imaging department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met and assumes personal responsibility for training fellow technologists/students.

-Promptly processes images and paperwork to ensure timely turn around in providing a report to the physician\'s office.

-Fills out all appropriate paperwork to facilitate timely and accurate reporting.

-Maintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care.

-Promptly and accurately enters patient information into HIS system to ensure efficient patient throughput.

-Maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programs.

-Shares knowledge and guides fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and procedures.

-Displays a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating productive learning environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Associate\'s Degree in Ultrasound/Sonography or Radiologic Technology

OR

  • Certificate of completion of Ultrasound/Sonography or Radiologic Technology program
  • AHA BLS
  • ARDMS
  • 1+ years of experience in ultrasound/sonography
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks while coordinating patient flow and variety of technica procedures requiring independent judgement and initiative
