General Description | As a key member of the Workforce Innovation Business Center (WIBC) the Center Generalist will be responsible for implementing client outreach programs, providing career services programs to Center clients and developing relationships with businesses in Union County in order to (a) understand employer hiring needs at all levels of their business and (b) assist WIBC clients to fill those needs. The Center Generalist will outreach to prospective clients and work extensively with employers in Union County to promote the Center and its services. The Center Generalist will be responsible for organizing client outreach programs, employer recruitment events, and implementing career services programs to individuals and groups. The Center Generalist will manage student documentation needed for grant requirements and implement training programs and workshops, as required. |
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities | · Develop and implement client outreach initiatives including, but not limited to, presenting at client orientation sessions at the Union County American Job Center, attend partner events to promote WIBC programs, attend County and community events. · Maintain client and program reporting documentation as required by grant funding. · Serve as the main job developer in the Center. Obtain job orders from employers, ensure that the information is available to WIBC clients, and work with other WIBC staff to identify suitable candidates. · Implement career service programs for WIBC clients. Activities include, but are not limited to, resume assistance, job search assistance, career inventories, assessments, interviewing skills, and individual employment plan development. · Ensure that candidates are properly equipped for the available opportunities. · Provide follow up services for American Job Center clients as required by the American Job Center. · Follow up with employers and candidates to provide support and document results. · Work with local businesses to understand their new employee skill requirements. Provide this information to WIBC program instructors to integrate into the course curriculum. · Maintain currency with industry trends; including but not limited to, up to date labor market information by researching industry resources, attending meetings, and maintaining contacts with professional/community organizations that are involved in job placement/training activities. · Prepare workshops and training programs as required to support activities of the Center. · Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification. · Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (job positions, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action. · Develop marketing and promotional materials for print and online distribution. · Performs other duties as assigned. |
Education Requirements | Bachelor’s degree required in Business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience to meet core competencies. |
Experience | Client/student outreach experience. Knowledge of Union County and area employers. |
Competencies and Skills Required | Strong and demonstrated knowledge and skills in:
· Valid Driver’s License |
Physical Demands and Work Environment | · This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled. · Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. · Very limited exposure to physical risk. Terms of Employment |
Terms of Employment:Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies. Grant Funded Position will be terminated upon expiration of grant or contract funding. |
