Job Posting Description

The per diem Sleep Technologist is responsible for the following:

  • Prepares patients and equipment for procedures.
  • Obtains medical history from patients/families to identify and meet patient-specific needs. (e.g., physical/mental limitations, current physiological status regarding the testing procedure).
  • Reviews procedure request provided by ordering physician and complies with all standard lab protocols.
  • Performs polysomnograms according to hospital and laboratory standards and protocols; routine and specialized PSG, PAP, O2, Trach, and other specialized procedures to meet the procedure request/goals of the study.
  • Perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance, troubleshoots technical problems with equipment, and coordinate repairs as needed with appropriate personnel.
  • Keeps equipment clean and in proper working order.
  •  Attend monthly technical staff meetings providing professional input for the development of procedures and protocols for the Center.
  •  Participate in professional meetings on a local, regional, and national basis.

The per diem Sleep Technologist must have the following:
  • High School diploma/GED
  • RPSGT eligible
  • Knowledge of PSG-related equipment, basic troubleshooting, and interfacing.  
  • Knowledge of the AASM manual of rules, terminology, and technical specifications.  
  • Ability to recognize abnormalities, artifacts, and events, and document with accuracy.  
  • Knowledge of patient safety procedures and protocols, infection control, and emergency procedures in a hospital setting.  
  • Skilled in the application of equipment, including 10-20 measurement system.
